Over Chritmas 2008, as usual,  the team rang regularly at three Chester hotels - The Mollington Banastre, The Chester Crown Plaza and the Mill Hotel and raised £1000 for 'Children Today' . This is a charity, based in Christleton, which provides specialist equipment for local physically handicapped children. The chequei was presented at our Presentation Dinner at the Willington Hall Hotel in July.

                    RINGING with BJÖRK

On the afternoon of 4th. October 2004, Team Director Mr.  Jackson, took a 'phone call from London - "Could the handbell team come up to London on Thursday to record a backing with the famous Icelandic singer Bjork ( who opened the Olympic Games in the summer) for the BBC TV programme “Friday Night with Jonathan Ross” to go out on National Television the following Friday evening! After discussions with with  Mr. Haigh and calls to parents – “Yes – we could go!” The music arrived by E-mail the following day and awe had 15 minutes of rehearsal on Wednesday morning!  At 7 a.m. on Thursday we set off from school.

We arrived at Television Centre at Wood Lane and were shown to our dressing rooms - labelled 'Bjork Band'. We then went up to the studio to set up and rehearse our part on the famous set. Soon after Bjork herself arrived together with Rahzell, the 'Human Beatbox' and we chatted about the number we were going to record 'Who is it?' After our recording was complete Duran Duran arrived to practice their songs and we also met the singing group 'Four Puffs and a Piano' who were in a dressing room next to one of ours. Unfortunately we did not meet Jonathan Ross, who records his bits later in the evening. Mr. Jackson did however have a chance to meet John from Duran Duran in the  corridor!

We were invited back to London on the Sunday to make a recording for the Giles Peterson Show - a World Music programme on Radio 1 on Sunday evening. Bjork was to be interviewed and 5 of her tracks were to be played and again we would back 'Who its it' The broadcast was at the BBC Radio Maida Vale Studio. On this occasion, as it was radio, Bjork arrived.. We recorded our part and then had lunch in the BBC canteen and waited to collect our autographed DVD's On our return to Chester we were amazed just hoe many people had seen us on TV including the local paper who came in to school to do an article and picture for their Friday edition.
